Literature Text

The boy looked a lot like me.
He placed the gas can at my feet.
Then he looked around the room.
He said, “Every day, an empire is born.
Every day, that empire falls,
only to come back the next day.
The empire is yours and yours alone,
so why has the world not seen it yet?”
The boy looked furious.
I wondered if he was a boy at all.
“Every day, you build the throne,
and it never takes physical form.
Why do you want to be a part of this society,
which spits on your dream?”
He walked away, only to turn around,
and scream from a distance.
“This is your enemies’ castle!
Why is it still standing?”
If he could, he might have
lit the matches himself.

Only thing that came to mind was the chorus of Fuel by Metallica: Gimme Fuel/Gimme Fire/Gimme That/'Ich I Desire!

Apart from that, the boy's method of speaking is... in my opinion... making a political statement (literally), and the way that he's mocking the gas filling audience is what makes that whole paragon of sarcasm a whole new type of satire. I found a political message in this one. Well written.
